A woman from New Jersey was arrested Thursday after crashing into a Collier County ambulance in Lely Resort and being found with BAC double the legal limit.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Charlene Diaz-Granados, 56, of Little Falls, New Jersey, rear-ended the ambulance while it waited at a red light at Collier Boulevard and Grand Lely Drive at around 11:30 a.m. Neither the occupants of the ambulance nor Diaz-Granados were injured.

A trooper says Diaz-Granados, when she exited her Kia sedan to speak with him, had poor balance, slurred her speech and smelled of alcohol. After performing poorly in a field sobriety test, Diaz-Granados was taken to the Collier County Jail, where breath tests showed her BAC to be between 0.170 and 0.175. The Floridian legal limit is 0.08.

Diaz-Granados faces charges of DUI and damaging property while DUI.
