The number of COVID-19 patients being treated in Lee Health hospitals has decreased every day this week, which is a sign that we have moved past the plateau and are on the downswing of the omicron surge.

Lee Health said they are “thankful for the tireless work of our entire team during this most recent surge in COVID-19 hospitalizations. The resolve of frontline health care workers has been on full display for nearly two years, and we are grateful for their perseverance and compassionate care during the pandemic.”

Here is Friday morning’s report:

  • As of Friday morning, they have 124 COVID-19 patients isolated in their hospitals.
  • Of these patients, 5 of them are being treated at Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida.
  • The hospital census was at 94% of staffed operational bed capacity.
  • The census in the intensive care unit was at 85% of the staffed operational bed capacity. There were 14 COVID-19 patients in the ICU.
  • On Thursday, Lee Health’s emergency departments saw 851 patients, which is typical for this time of year.
