Real estate agents in Naples say renters there don’t have many housing options under $2,000 per month. And, they’re lucky if they can find a vacant place at all.

On Friday, WINK News reporter Tiffany Rizzo found a one-bedroom, one-bath apartment in Naples. The 689-square foot Zillow listing isn’t very much room and definitely isn’t cheap at all.

Rizzo asked an expert, “So what can you really get for $2,000 a month in Collier County?”

Mark Taylor is a team leader with the Robert Slack Real Estate Team. “These days? Not much. And there’s a lot of factors that play into it,” Taylor said.

The listing at Meadow Brook Preserve is probably gone already. “If it’s not a waiting list situation. If it’s just word of mouth. You’ve got to come by, work out and move very quickly because there is none,” said Taylor.

While Zillow shows that there are a whole host of listings, Mark Taylor checked the matrix to see how many properties for $2,000 or less per month are available in Collier County.

The answer is 11. One of those listings is at Cypress Trace, and it’s a two-bedroom, two-bath at about 1,200-square feet, but if you want it, you have to act fast.

David Puskaric is a managing broker and owner of Parkline Realty. “You have to be ready to react. You have to be ready to commit and lock it down. Because once you see it, it’s not going to be there tomorrow most likely,” said Puskaric.

Demand is high right now, but so are prices. So, that $2,000 doesn’t go a very long way because availability is low.

“When you do find something on Zillow or these places, a lot of times when you actually follow up on them, and you call them, you find out that they’re not available and that it just hasn’t been updated yet,” Puskaric said.

The realty broker that WINK News spoke with said people who can’t find an affordable rental are looking as far north as Charlotte County for a place to live. Then, they’ll drive south for work.
