The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said it has a man in custody suspected of filming young girls as they tried on clothes inside a Fort Myers Goodwill changing room.
The incident happened on Saturday morning at the store at 4650 Challenger Boulevard.
The man is also a suspect in a peeping Tom incident that occurred at the Walmart at 17105 San Carlos Blvd. in south Fort Myers on Wednesday.
Authorities have not released his identity but he was being interviewed by deputies Wednesday afternoon, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
In the Goodwill incident, the man went into the fitting room to try on clothes.
Two girls, also shopping, went to the fitting room to try on clothing in the stall next to him.
While inside, FMPD said, the man took his cellphone and started recording the girls from the top of the fitting room as they changed and tried on clothing.
One of them saw the cellphone and said something, leading the man to immediately remove his phone and leave the store.
Sharron Guida, of LaBelle, said “it’s sad that you can’t go out in public anymore and feel safe.”
At Goodwill, changes will be made to keep something like this from happening again.
“We’re just going to be starting in the next couple of weeks where we have ceilings that come all the way down to the door along with a full-length door so this cannot happen again,” said Carolyn Johnson, of Goodwill. “It’s something that we recognized quite a while ago that we needed to do so this is just one of the stores next to be done.”
Any tips may be sent to Detective Rochelle Curr at rcurr@fmpolice.com or to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at (800) 780-8477.

The suspect has since been arrested and faces a myriad of charges. Dalton Matheson faces 10 counts of possession of obscene material depicting child sex conduct and one count of possession of 10 or more child porn images.
