National Hurricane Conference is underway in Orlando

Hurricane season is right around the corner, the perfect time for the National Hurricane Conference to be underway in Orlando.

With hurricane season a month and a half away, you should be thinking ahead about your and your family’s safety, and many different ways to protect your home and new technology are on display in Orlando.

With so many people new to Southwest Florida, securing your home, an evacuation plan, and recovery after a storm are key. Beyond the many vendors sharing safety devices and the latest tech, WINK News Chief Meteorologist Matt Devitt spoke with the director of the National Hurricane Center Ken Graham about this upcoming hurricane season.

“You can’t really rest on ‘it hasn’t happened in a while.’ Just because it didn’t happen last year or the year before doesn’t mean it can’t happen this year or the next year,” said Graham.
