Friday is the last day to register for the Lee County Teacher Recruitment Fair, and there are right now 100 vacancies throughout the School District of Lee County.

The shortage areas include elementary schools, special education and nearly every individual subject. The event will be held on Saturday, April 30. Suzette Rivera, the assistant director of recruitment for LCSD, says this fair is unique because potential candidates will be interviewed by principals and assistant principals.

“We have over 75 schools attending, we have different cultures and different needs at each one of those schools and the only people who really know what they need in those buildings are going to be our principals and assistant principals,” Rivera said. “They are the ones to staff their schools adequately.”

District leaders say you don’t need a teaching certificate to attend this fair. If you’re interested, just visit the Lee County schools website and district leaders will reach out to you if there’s anything else you need to do to be eligible.
