A 27-year-old Lehigh Acres man has been arrested after deputies say he is responsible for a carjacking and two robberies at gas stations.

Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno used expletives to describe Da’Vonta Edwards in announcing his arrest.

“We chased this son of a [expletive],” Marceno said.

Marceno said Edwards just got out of prison in March after serving time for vehicular manslaughter.

The crime spree began at 11 p.m. on Tuesday in the 8,000 block of Cypress Lake Drive after someone reported a carjacking. A victim said a man demanded her vehicle with a gun.

Edwards is accused of then heading to a 7-Eleven at 1626 Meadow Road where he robbed someone. Marceno said Edwards then went to a 7-Eleven in Gateway where he committed another robbery.
