On Monday, Christopher Bernier Ed.D, will officially be the new Superintendent for Lee County schools. Bernier has worked in education for over 30 years.

His new job comes with challenges. He told WINK News he plans to take it one step at a time.

“My top priority is my entry plan,” Bernier says. “Right now, I think the goal is to come on board and continue to engage with the community like I did this afternoon.”

Bernier told WINK News that all of the students have one thing in common their parents and their teachers. “This has been a difficult two-year period of time everywhere in the country,” Bernier says. “And right now, I think most importantly, people need to be listened to.”

Dr. Bernier’s been spending extra time at those schools where he’ll attend graduation so he’s not a stranger on the stage. Then the real work gets going. The new school year in Lee County starts on August 10.
