A man accused of placing a hidden camera inside a Sanibel beach bathroom has been ordered to pay $140,000 to get out of jail.

Dana Caruso is facing numerous charges of voyeurism of a child under the age of 16.

Caruso faced a judge on Tuesday during his first appearance.

About 55 people were recorded by the camera Caruso is accused of placing in the bathroom, according to court proceedings.

A handful of the victims were under the age of 10.

Caruso faces eight charges of voyeurism so far, but the state can file more as they identify more people on the videos.

Sanibel police Det. John Eicher testified that Caruso pleaded to similar charges in New Hampshire.

“A cell phone was placed in a shoebox, with the cameras pointing up in place inside of the fitting room record,” Eicher said. “Anyone that came in there was a female.”

The judge ordered Caruso to stay away from Bowman Beach if he posts bond.

He also cannot have contact with any of the victims and must wear a GPS monitor.
