A beautiful butterfly pendant with an even more beautiful meaning to it has been lost. Melinda Maner is hoping you can help her find it because it holds her husband’s ashes.

It’s been gone for months, but on social media, her story is exploding.

Looks can be deceiving. The necklace looks like an ordinary butterfly pendant, but to Maner, the pendant is priceless.

“I was going from bar-to-bar restaurant to restaurant. And mostly I wore it, sometimes I would take it off at night. But I got up one morning, and I was like, where’s my necklace?” said Maner.

The butterfly pendant contained some of her husband Grady’s ashes. He died in May 2019 after battling a bacterial infection for six years.

“My husband and I loved butterflies, and it has, butterflies have a thing of coming back and letting you know that people from beyond are looking out after you and letting you know that you’re not alone,” said Maner.

When she first lost the pendant months ago, Maner posted her story on Facebook but didn’t get much traction.

On Monday, she decided to post it again. This time people took notice. Already there have been more than 900 shares.

“It’s overwhelming. And what made me think of it was the lady that had lost hers with her daughter’s ashes. And it was years, you know, before she got it back,” Maner said.

That’s why Maner holds on to hope someone found the pendant and doesn’t realize what’s inside. Maybe someone will see this story or her Facebook post and return it.

“And that’s why I have the butterfly, to always have him with me, and when I look in my yard and see butterflies, I know he’s with me,” said Manor.

Maner told WINK News the pendant is sterling silver and has an amethyst stone, which is her birthstone. If you happen to come across the butterfly pendant, you can reach Maner through Facebook.
