Fort Myers police have arrested a man they say was sharing child porn on the Kik app.

Charles David Hughes faces 10 counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of transmission of child pornography. He was arrested on Thursday, according to the Fort Myers Police Department.

Police said they received a tip from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children concerning the distribution and possession of child porn that was discovered by the Kik application regarding one of their subscribers.

The account belonged to Hughes, police said.

Search warrants for the various Kik accounts were obtained, which resulted in the execution of a residential search warrant, police said. Multiple electronic devices were seized during the residential search warrant. Homeland Security Investigations provided forensic support with the examination of the seized devices.

Police said Hughes has numerous images and videos depicting child pornography on his electronic devices. Some video files included children younger than five years old.

Hughes remains in Lee County Jail.

In the spirit of transparency, Hughes worked briefly at WINK nearly two years ago.
