Police: Man tried to run over bouncers at downtown Fort Myers restaurant

A man was arrested Wednesday night after police say he tried to run over a group of bouncers outside a downtown Fort Myers restaurant where he had earlier been removed.

According to the Fort Myers Police Department, Junior Lopez, 23, was arrested after crashing his car into the Firestone Skybar and Martini Bar at 2224 Bay Street. Lopez had been removed from Firestone by staff earlier that night.

Witnesses told police that Lopez intentionally drove his vehicle into a group of bouncers before striking the building. He was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital before being booked into the Lee County Jail.

Lopez faces multiple charges, including four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, two counts of DUI with an unlawful blood alcohol level and one count of driving with an expired license for more than six months.
