Credit: WINK News Charlotte County detectives are investigating the death of a man whose body was found on Monday in the woods riddled with gunshot wounds. According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, CCSO was notified of a body dumped in a wooded area just over the Lee County line on US-41. The 49-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds, with the official cause of death pending autopsy results. Wendy Leonard lives in the Peaceful Pines neighborhood and told WINK News this type of violence doesn’t happen in her neighborhood. “Like I said if we usually hear sirens it’s because ambulance or something like that …comes in the neighborhood once in a great while you know,” Leonard said. But Gloria Robertson mentioned you can’t be too careful and that’s exactly why she always locks her door. “I mean the man probably has a family,” Robertson said. “And if they don’t know where he is and nothings been reported how can they know what happened to him?” CCSO says this is an isolated incident with no danger to the public.
