Fort Myers detective struck with vehicle by wanted man attempting to flee

On Sunday, the Fort Myers Police Department arrested Keita Gaymon, 27, who was wanted for various alleged crimes.

According to the Fort Myers Police Department, Gaymon was already wanted for aggravated battery on a pregnant female, robbery, and grand theft auto.

On Sunday, detectives from FMPD went to 2828 Jackson Street, in Fort Myers searching for Gaymon. Detectives saw Gaymon sitting inside the vehicle he had stolen during a robbery. When the detectives tried to get Gaymon out of the vehicle, Gaymon quickly sped out of the parking spot.

While Gaymon was quickly accelerating out of the parking spot, his vehicle hit a detective. The detective that was hit did not suffer any injuries from the ordeal.

After attempting to flee from law enforcement, Gaymon crashed into a fence and began to flee on foot.

With the help of the Fort Myers Police Departs Canine Unit, Gaymon was found and arrested at 2811 Central Avenue.

Gaymon suffered an ankle injury after jumping a fence while attempting to run away from law enforcement.

Gaymon was taken to a local hospital to be treated for his injury and was later medically cleared and transported to the Lee County Jail.

Gaymon was charged with aggravated battery on a pregnant female, robbery, grand theft auto, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, felony fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest, and driving without a valid license.
