The Collier County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide in the 3500 block of 8th Avenue Southeast after a woman is found dead by a family member.

According to CCSO, the woman was found dead when a family member went to check on her Friday morning.

Deputies say this appears to be an isolated incident. Deputies don’t believe there is any threat to the community. They say no arrests have been made.

WINK News spoke to a cousin of the woman they say was found lying in a pool of blood inside her home. This devastating news has sent shockwaves through their entire family.

Yellow tape now wraps Jean Beaubrun’s cousin’s home.

“We got the news this morning, early this morning, that my cousin was found in her house, you know, in the pool of blood,” said Beaubrun.

Beaubrun said his cousin was a wonderful, hardworking woman. “She’s a sister to me, you know,”

The woman killed was in her 70s, according to her family, and had just bought the car of her dreams.

“I said, ‘OK, enjoy it.’ You know, I said, ‘you know, at that age, sometimes when you turn 75-80, you may not be able to drive anymore. So I’m glad for you just enjoy your dream car.’ And we were laughing about it because it’s a very close family,” Beaubrun said.

It was a new Audi that sat in the driveway. Now, Beaubrun said that the new car is nowhere to be found. “It is a sad, sad news. The family, we are all in shock.”

The family is also confused as to what happened. The sheriff’s office says this is a homicide but doesn’t believe neighbors are in danger.

“I felt that I had to stop here just to look at the house and understand that. That’s what happened, said Beaubrun. “This is really devastating.”

The arrest report was heavily redacted, but since WINK News has been on the scene, we’ve seen deputies carry out multiple brown evidence bags and investigate the two cars in the driveway as well.

We’ll keep you updated as we learn more about this case.
