The man accused of murdering a woman in Golden Gate Estates was set to appear before a judge on Tuesday but didn’t due to a medical refusal.

In his absence, a judge ordered Racine Rafael, 71, held without bond for the violent murder.

WINK News learned the court is worried that releasing him on a bond would be detrimental to the community’s safety.

In court, it was revealed that Rafael and his wife argued in the garage. Deputies say he pulled her into the laundry room and hit her in the head with a breaker bar tool.

The victim, identified as Lisa Beaubrun by her family, was found dead by a family member on Friday.

Rafael was arrested in Glades County on Saturday and is facing a charge of second-degree murder.
