Suspect injured in officer-involved shooting in North Fort Myers

Deputies say one suspect was injured in an officer-involved shooting on Travis Avenue in North Fort Myers.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, no law enforcement officers were injured in the incident.

Investigators aren’t saying much yet, but Lee County deputies responded to the officer-involved shooting around 6:30 a.m. A home on Travis Avenue could be seen with a broken window and fire damage on its side.

Neighbors say they saw more than 30 police cars responding to a structure fire at that home just after 5 a.m.

A fire marshal is investigating the scene. It has not been confirmed if the fire was directly related to the officer-involved shooting.

WINK News has contacted LCSO and the North Fort Myers Fire Department for additional information. The scene is currently secure, and law enforcement says there is no threat to the public.
