Police are searching for who is responsible for the shots fired on a bridge many Southwest Floridians regularly use.

It was possibly road rage that led to the troubling scene in Cape Coral.

Nobody WINK News knows, as of early Tuesday evening, was hurt by the shots. Detectives believe people in two vehicles started shooting at each other near the Midpoint Bridge. Since they haven’t found anyone involved, they don’t know if a flying bullet hit anyone in either car.

Tuesday night, Cape Coral Police are continuing the search for the shooters.

The shots rang out between people in two vehicles near the Midpoint Bridge connecting Fort Myers and Cape Coral. It’s reported that the cars involved were a black sedan and a gray truck.

Nearby neighbors are worried the people with those guns are still out there.

“I left LA, because I didn’t want to be dealing with the shootings and the gangs and all this stuff,” Libertad Castro said.

Castro lives near the bridge. When WINK News knocked on her door, she was asleep but quickly woke up when WINK News told her police were working on a shooting near her home.

“If this goes on, then I’ll have to find another place that secure. I hope not. I love Cape Coral, stay away, keep your mischievousness somewhere else. We pay enough taxes, and we love our beautiful city. Stay away,” Castro said.

Cape Coral Police said after looking at security video, detectives believe the shooters involved are connected in some way.
