Woman accused of smuggling drugs into DeSoto prison

A woman from Jacksonville has been arrested, accused of trying to smuggle drugs into a DeSoto County prison.

The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office said they caught 47-year-old Mary Denise Dupree with almost 200 grams of cocaine and nearly 40 grams of marijuana on Saturday.

They said Dupree attempted to sneak the drugs into the DeSoto Correctional Institute in Arcadia.

Dupree faces many charges, including drug trafficking and smuggling contraband into a correctional institute.
