Authorities are at the scene of an active death investigation underway in Charlotte County. According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation is near Trails End Drive off Washington Loop Road. The neighborhood was closed off Wednesday afternoon by deputies, who reported that two people were shot and killed. The call came in as a reported shooting, but investigators haven’t clarified anything beyond that or if there is a search underway, Wednesday night, for anyone connected to this death investigation. Neighbors have no clue if they need to be worried about their own safety. WINK News asked the sheriff’s office if anyone is detained or facing charges, or if all parties are accounted for, and they haven’t answered. “It’s way out there,” said Kelly, a neighbor on Trails End Drive. “You’d have to drive all the way to the back. All the houses are very far apart from each other out here.” Not only was a mobile command center spotted on the scene, but marine patrol units and an animal control unit showed up. Neighbors said there are ponds behind the neighborhood. Until they have more insight from investigators, neighbors said they will continue feeling like they’re on edge. “We’re immediate neighbors to whatever is happening, but we don’t see or know anything,” said a neighbor who wished to remain anonymous. One neighbor told WINK News he knows one of the people who was found dead, saying that man lives in one of the homes here with his wife and kids. WINK News reached out to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office to see if that information is accurate. Authorities said they couldn’t say anything more about the investigation. This is an active scene, and WINK News will update this article with more information when it becomes available.
