The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a food safety alert regarding an outbreak of Salmonella infections linked to potentially contaminated basil.

According to the CDC, they’ve received reports of 12 salmonella infections in seven states, including Florida.

The illnesses have been linked to Infinite Herbs organic basil.

The basil has been sold at Trader Joe’s in 2.5-ounce clamshell-style containers. They’ve since ceased shipments of the basil on April 12.

Investigators are working to identify other potentially contaminated products.

If you purchased any Infinite Herbs organic basil from Trader Joe’s, the CDC advises you to throw them away and clean surfaces and items that may have touched the contaminated basil, including refrigerator shelves and cutting boards.

One person has been hospitalized, but no deaths have been reported.
