Bonita Springs landowners impacted by a biking and walking path stretching almost 15 miles will get to address their concerns about the project.

The Bonita Estero Rail Trail Conversion project would transition nearly 15 miles of abandoned Seminole Gulf Coast Railways track into hiking and biking paths from Alico Road to North Collier County.

Not everyone is thrilled about the proposed $82 million BERT project.

“Many communities are in favor of the bike trail,” said Bruce Ackerman, The Vines in Estero neighbor, “and, of course, none of those communities have a bike trail bisecting their community or even coming up to their back door.”

The meetings are set to take place at the Embassy Suites in Fort Myers at 5:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.
