Brush fire shuts down portion of Corkscrew Road in Estero

Authorities are checking for hot spots on the scene where an estimated 30-acre brush fire ignited in Estero.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m. Monday, crews shut down Corkscrew Road from State Road 82 to Corkscrew Field Road. However, the road was open by the following morning.

As of late that night, the fire had been 90 percent contained.

According to authorities, no structures were damaged, and no injuries have been reported.

Estero Fire Rescue, Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District, Bonita Springs Fire Control and Rescue District, Lee County Public Safety, Florida Forest Service, Bayshore Fire Rescue, San Carlos Park Fire Protection & Rescue Service District, Immokalee Fire Control District, Lee County Port Authority and the Lee County Sheriffs Office are all working together to contain and extinguish the fire.
