Wade Wilson. Credit: WINK News Convicted double-murderer Wade Wilson was set to return to court for his penalty phase Thursday morning. When court began, his defense team asked for a postponement. His attorney said unforeseen circumstances with their experts caused a delay and asked to resume court on Monday. Lee County Judge Nicholas Thompson granted the request. The state and defense anticipate that the penalty phase will take one to two days. Wilson’s fate lies within the jury’s recommendation to determine whether he receives the death penalty or serves out the rest of his years in prison. RELATED: Wade Wilson found guilty on all 6 counts, including first-degree murder Wilson was found guilty on all six counts against him, including the first-degree murder of two Cape Coral women in 2019. Following a brief deliberation process by the jury on Wednesday, June 12, all twelve jurors found Wilson guilty of battery, grand theft of a motor vehicle, first-degree petit theft, burglary of a dwelling, and the first-degree murder charges of Kristine Melton and Diane Ruiz.
