A Lehigh Acres father confronted and stopped a person breaking into his son’s car. It turns out the dad was home and watching the suspect on surveillance video. He ran out and confronted the thief, which could be seen in the dramatic video. The suspect and the victim grappled for over a minute before the suspect ended up running away. Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies quickly responded to the scene and approached the suspect, where he attempted to flee again but was caught. Twenty-one-year-old Darrick Miles was arrested for burglary and resisting an officer. While the father from the incident did not want to go on camera, he told WINK News he is glad everyone was not hurt and that he was protecting his valuables like any American would. In a statement, Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said, “While the victim in this case was in their right to protect their property, it is always best and strongly encouraged to call law enforcement to handle matters safely.”
