A man surrendered himself to the Florida Highway Patrol after a multi-month-long fatal hit-and-run investigation.

The crash occurred on Oil Well Road and State Road 29 in Collier County after a truck hit a 64-year-old man riding a bicycle on March 24, 2024.

FHP released pre-crash footage of a white Chevy pickup truck believed to be involved in the incident that occurred.

Troopers then located a pickup truck with damage to its front end, partially concealed under a tarp, at a residence in Hendry County.

The truck was believed to be the vehicle used in the hit-and-run incident, therefore it was seized by troopers.

Byron Lee Billie, 36, was believed to have been the pickup truck’s driver.

The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Division issued a warrant for his arrest.

Billie then turned himself in to troopers on Monday where he was booked then taken to the Collier County Jail.
