Neighbors still dealing with dead fish smell in neighborhood

Published: Updated:

Neighbors at Marco Shores Estates are still waiting to find out why dead fish were piling up in the water, on sidewalks and in the grass.

There were dozens of dead fish in a retention pond behind the neighborhood in Collier County.

WINK News talked with several neighbors who have lived there for years and said they’ve never seen anything like this before.

One of them even called the fish kill hotline who said the fish may be dying from the heat and loss of oxygen but was told to wait things out.

Everyone here is dealing with the sight and horrible smell and wants to know why this is even happening.

WINK News reached out to the office manager, who neighbors said came out Monday to check things out.

So far, there has been no response, but crews were seen cleaning up the dead carcasses Tuesday afternoon.
