The Weather Authority is tracking coastal rain heading inland, leading into scattered storms on this Tuesday.

The Weather Authority Meteorologist Zach Maloch said, “Southwest Florida will stay drier for the middle of the day before showers redevelop in the afternoon and early evening. Scattered showers and storms will form inland first and then work their way towards the coast.”

Tuesday

Multiple rounds of rain and storms on this Tuesday.

Showers and storms across the coast this morning will fade away by the middle of the day before more scattered storms arrive this afternoon.

We’ll see about 0.25 – 1.00″ of rain throughout the day, with heavy rain possibly occurring from time to time.

Highs will be in the upper 80s and lower 90s.

Wednesday

Starting drier and pleasant for your Wednesday morning commute.

Scattered rain and storms will develop through the afternoon and taper off for your evening plans.

High temperatures will be in the low to mid-90s.

Thursday

Pleasant conditions for your Thursday morning.

While the morning will begin dry, scattered rain and storms return for the afternoon with heavy rain possible through the early evening.

High temperatures will be in the lower to mid 90s before storms arrive.

Tropics Update

The Weather Authority is monitoring a few areas of interest in the tropics.

The main area being monitored is a tropical wave in the Caribbean Sea.

Some development of this system is possible over the next seven days as it heads towards the Yucatan Peninsula.

Right now, the Weather Authority is watching this closely and seeing a more favorable setup for the development of this system.

A tropical depression could form this weekend. If this system develops, it looks to stay in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico.

Over the next seven days, there is a 40% chance of further development.

The other area The Weather Authority is watching is another tropical wave just west of the coast of Africa.

This wave is currently associated with an area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms.

Some slow development of this system is possible over the next few days as it slowly moves to the northwest.

This will not have an impact on Southwest Florida.

Over the next seven days, there is a 40% chance of further development.

Another tropical wave about midway between Africa’s west coast and the Lesser Antilles produces disorganized showers and thunderstorms.

Some slow development is possible during the next couple of days while the system moves west-northwestward.

However, by the end of the week, environmental conditions are expected to become unfavorable for additional development.

Over the next seven days, there is a 10% chance of further development.
