The Weather Authority is tracking an increased chance of rain and storms throughout this Thursday afternoon.

The Weather Authority Meteorologist Zach Maloch said, “For this Thursday, expect a good amount of rain starting early afternoon and into the evening. Heavy winds, thunderstorms, and heavy downpours are possible in isolated areas.”

Thursday

Expect more rain and storms for this Thursday.

Isolated rain is likely along the coast by lunchtime before moving inland through the afternoon.

Scattered rain and storms will continue through the afternoon and evening.

High temperatures remain quite hot and in the lower 90s with “feels like” temperatures ranging from 103 – 108°.

Friday

Expect sun and clouds with warm and humid conditions for your Friday morning commute.

While we are starting to dry, scattered rain and storms will occur in the afternoon and evening.

Highs will be quite hot again, in the lower 90s.

A heat advisory may once again be needed for some counties in Southwest Florida.

Saturday

It’s a hot and steamy day ahead, with highs in the lower 90s.

“Feels like” temperatures will range from 102 – 107°.

Saturday morning is looking dry, with scattered rain and storms developing and moving through the area in the afternoon and evening.

Tropics Update

The Weather Authority is watching the tropics closely with Tropical Depression Francine moving through the South-Central United States, Tropical Depression 7 in the Eastern Atlantic, and three other areas of interest with low chances of development.

Those three areas of interest will not concern us in Southwest Florida.

Tropical Depression Francine is continuing to impact parts of Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and even the panhandle of Florida on Thursday.

While Francine is forecast to weaken entirely over the next couple of days, it will still impact the central and southeast parts of the country through the weekend.

Tropical Depression 7 is strengthening in the Eastern Atlantic and is forecast to become Tropical Storm Gordon later Thursday.

The Weather Authority is keeping a close eye on this system and sees that it should stay in the Atlantic and even turn to the north in the Central Atlantic over the next seven days.

This system does not look to impact the United States or any other land areas.
