Blind Pass Bridge opens to residents amid cleanup

Published: Updated:

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday morning the Blind Pass Bridge is now open but must be crossed using caution due to clean-up crews.

The Florida Department of Transportation is currently active in the area, using heavy equipment to move large amounts of sand, so there will be deputies helping direct traffic.

Any residents trying to get on Captiva using their car will need to follow the orders of the City of Sanibel.

In order to get on the island, you must show a valid ID and proof that you own property on Captiva. You can also show a valid pass from the City of Sanibel.

The Sanibel Causeway re-opened for residents and business owners only on Thursday, with Hurricane Passes or proof of residency required to gain access.

A curfew is in place on the island until further notice from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Sanibel Police asks that you please limit travel throughout the island as much as possible to allow crews to expedite clean-up.
