The Weather Authority is tracking an approaching cold front, which will bring cooler and breezier afternoon conditions.

The Weather Authority Meteorologist Zach Maloch said, “Southwest Florida can expect a cold front to arrive this Wednesday; however, before temperatures begin to drop, stray showers may occur. Breezy conditions will continue throughout the late afternoon and into the overnight hours.

Wednesday

A cold front is moving through Southwest Florida, bringing breezy conditions and cooler temperatures for this Wednesday afternoon and evening.

Highs only top out in the lower to mid-80s.

While a stray shower will be possible as that front moves through, most of Southwest Florida will stay dry. Cooler temperatures will arrive overnight.

Thursday

Coolest temperatures since April are expected for Thursday morning as lows will be in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

Breezy conditions continue for Thursday which will help keep temperatures on the cool side for the afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 70s to lower 80s.

Friday

Gorgeous conditions continue, with temperatures starting in the mid-60s for the Friday morning commute.

Temperatures will remain on the cooler side, with highs Friday in the lower to mid-80s.

Pleasant conditions are expected for High School football games on Friday evening.

Tropics Update

The Weather Authority is monitoring two areas of interest in the tropics. The good news is that cold fronts will keep both areas of interest away from Southwest Florida.

A well-defined area of low pressure designated as Invest 94L is located in the Central Atlantic is producing occasional showers and thunderstorms.

This system is currently embedded in an unfavorable environment, and development is not anticipated over the next few days.

However, this system is forecast to move generally westward to west-southwestward, and environmental conditions could become more favorable for gradual development.

Later this week, a tropical depression could form near the Leeward Islands.

The Weather Authority meteorologists are not worried about this system as a stronger cold front will be moving off the coast of Florida this weekend, blocking this system from heading towards the state.

Over the next seven days, there is a 40% chance of further development.

A broad area of low pressure is producing showers and storms over the southwestern Caribbean Sea.

Some gradual development is possible if the system stays over water while it moves slowly west-northwestward towards northern Central America.

Regardless of development, locally heavy rainfall is possible across portions of Central America later this week.

Over the next seven days, there is a 20% chance of further development.
