Vehicle pursuit ends in crash on Alico Road

A vehicle pursuit between a stolen vehicle and law enforcement ended in a crash on Alico Road and Ben Hill Griffin Parkway.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the FHP assisted the Collier County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday evening in pursuing a Ford F250.

The pickup truck had been stolen from Collier County and involved in a burglary in Lee County.

The pursuit went north on Interstate 75, approaching Corkscrew Road. The F250 actively fled at a high speed, evading attempts to stop.

The F250 eventually began traveling east on Alico Rd. when State Troopers performed a successful PIT maneuver near Ben Hill Griffin Parkway.

The driver, later identified as 36-year-old David Alfonso of Naples, fled on foot and was found in a drainage ditch a short time later.

He has been taken into custody and charged with the following:

  • Aggravated Fleeing to Elude
  • Reckless Driving
  • License Suspended (Habitual Offender with 18 prior suspensions)
  • Grant Theft
  • Warrant
  • Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Criminal Mischief
