FMPD found the SUV possibly involved in fatal shooting near Colonial Blvd. and Ortiz Ave.

The Fort Myers Police Department was searching for an SUV that was involved in the fatal shooting near Colonial Boulevard and Ortiz Avenue and located it in Lehigh Acres.

The shooting was reported to the FMPD on Sunday evening after a hit-and-run traffic incident occurred.

Law enforcement confirmed one person was killed during the incident. WINK News contacted the FMPD regarding updates to the investigation.

According to the FMPD public information officer, “One person is deceased. We do not currently have anyone in custody. We are seeking any witnesses or tips from the incident to call us or crime stoppers.” 

On Monday morning, Fort Myers Police Detectives posted on Facebook that they were seeking public assistance in locating a 2004 Saturn SUV bearing Florida tag – CE50MX.

The SUV, reportedly a matte or flat black color with distinct stickers on the rear driver and passenger sides, was located by authorities in Lehigh Acres.

According to the Fort Myers Police Department, “This investigation remains very active and we are seeking witness information or potential personal dash cam footage from the area of Westbound Colonial Boulevard and Ortiz Avenue; before, during or after this incident that occurred at approximately 6:50 p.m.”
