The owner of a Cape Coral roofing business owes the Internal Revenue Service over $2 million after pleading guilty to fraud charges.

William Skaggs Jr., the owner of Nastar Roofing Enterprises Inc., appeared in Fort Myers Federal Court on Thursday, where he entered a guilty plea for conspiracy to defraud the federal government.

Back in March 2023, officers with IRS, Criminal Investigation raided the business.

According to the plea agreement, the company paid its employees mostly in cash for 10 years without paying Federal Insurance Contributions Act taxes.

The unpaid taxes that have accumulated over those 10 years, which total over $2 million, will now have to be paid to the IRS.
