2 Punta Gorda women face grand jury indictments for death involving meth

Two Punta Gorda women have been accused of distributing meth causing death after being indicted by the Charlotte County Grand Jury.

Marie Margaret Hunter and Mary Katheryn Brown were arrested on Thursday evening following an investigation by the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.

Hunter has been indicted for first-degree murder, unlawful distribution of a controlled
substance, sale or delivery of a controlled substance, and possession with intent to sell or deliver a controlled substance.

Brown has been indicted on similar charges to Hunter in addition to offering to commit prostitution, lewdness or assignation.

According to Florida State Attorney Amira Fox, the indictments read in part that between July 4 and 6 in 2023 the defendants did unlawfully, kill the victim, by the unlawful distribution of meth.
