A pickup truck crashed into a Cape Coral apartment building after what police believe was a head-on collision with another vehicle.

According to volunteers with the Cape Coral Police Department, the truck was driving from Del Prado Boulevard when another vehicle attempted to make a U-turn Friday morning.

When the truck and vehicle crashed, the truck lost control, smashing into the apartment building.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital.

WINK News spoke to the driver of the red truck that rammed into the apartment unit.

She said she was feeling all right and suffered only minor injuries, but the crash left her unconscious.

Without control of the car, she wound up stuck in a couple’s apartment and backyard.

The airbags deployed.

The other car was taken from the scene before WINK News arrived.

The Cape Coral Police volunteer told us the other driver and the other car were not in good shape and were transported.

Seeing the red truck came as a shock to the owners who were inside at the time.

A woman who was inside the home said she was shaken up but not physically hurt.

She said they just bought the apartment in March, hoping to have this be their home away from home back in Indiana, but she is just grateful so far that everyone seems to have come out OK from this.
