Marco Island City Council vacancy application period extended

Marco Island City Council members have voted to extend the application period for people interested in filling a vacant seat on the council.

The council made the decision on Monday.

The vacancy was created following the resignation of Councilor Greg Folley for his candidacy as State Representative, District 81.

Candidates must meet eligibility requirements and submit an application. Applicants are strongly encouraged to supplement their application with a resume or CV.

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a qualified elector of the City of Marco Island.
  • Have been a resident of the City for at least one year prior to the application date.
  • Have not served on the City Council for more than eight years during their lifetime.

The application period has been extended until Friday at 5 p.m.
