Lee and Collier counties celebrated National Adoption Month by bringing together over 20 Southwest Florida families.

According to the 20th Circuit Court of Florida, Collier and Lee hosted mass adoption hearings over the span of two days, finalizing homes for children from the foster care system.

The courts saw over 27 children and 21 different families and thanked everyone involved in the process.

In 1995, former President Bill Clinton designated November as National Adoption Month.

According to the Florida Department of Health’s Bureau of Vital Statistics, 3,807 children under the age of 18 were adopted from the state of Florida between Jan. 1, 2023, to Sept. 14, 2023.
