The Charlotte CARE Center has opened its doors to displaced people needing shelter from the cold temperatures.

Formerly the Charlotte County Homeless Coalition at 476 Kenesaw St. in Port Charlotte, the shelter will provide warmth to those in need of refuge from temperatures that felt like the 30s, early Monday morning.

On Monday and Tuesday nights, guests who choose to seek refuge must pre-register by calling 941-627-4313 and arrive by 8 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service temperatures could be in the mid-40s Monday night.

In Collier County,  St. Matthew’s House has opened its emergency shelters for those who need a reprieve from the chilly weather.

The Campbell Lodge, located at 2001 Airport Road South in Naples, and the Immokalee Friendship Lodge, located at 602 West Main Street in Immokalee, have opened their doors to those needing shelter.

The St. Matthew’s House shelters will be open until Friday.
