The Cape Coral City Council has approved funding to replace stop signs damaged during Hurricane Milton, resulting in an emergency purchase.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, Cape Coral has lost and damaged multiple stop signs.

Without them, safety hazards would significantly increase, including the risk of accidents and potential injuries or fatalities.

The emergency purchase was made with six firms considered for the contract: AWP Safety Inc, i2 Visual, AIS, Paramount Asphalt & Sealcoating, Traffic Control Devices, LLC and Horsepower Electric.

The staff received three quotes from the following firms:

  • AWP- $699,932.20
  • Paramount Asphalt & Sealcoating Corp.-$1,308,505.00
  • Horsepower Electric- $1,980,030.80

The other three firms did not respond or declined to quote.

The city took the lowest acceptable quoter, AWP Safety Inc.
