Man arrested after shots fired in the air, stolen gun recovered

A man was arrested early Sunday in Fort Myers after police responded to a ShotSpotter alert near Maple and Meadows streets.

Officers arrived at the scene at approximately 4 a.m. and located a man who had discarded a firearm, according to the Fort Myers Police Department.

The gun was recovered and later determined to be stolen.

A witness confirmed the incident, and police said the suspect, identified as David Collins Mann, 42, was arrested.

He faces charges of possession of a firearm by a person with felony convictions and resisting arrest.

Investigators said the gun was fired into the air. No injuries were reported.
