The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office will take on the Lee County Sheriff’s Office in a charity hockey game to benefit the family of fallen Charlotte County Deputy Sgt. Elio Diaz.

The charity game will be held on Jan. 18 at Hertz Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:30 p.m., before the Florida Everblades play at 7 p.m.

Diaz was killed in the line of duty on Dec. 15 while assisting a driver during a traffic stop who then shot him dead.

Ever since the shooting, tributes and fundraisers have spread throughout the community.

The money from every ticket bought through this link will go to Diaz’s family. The Everblades will also donate $5 for every ticket bought that night.
