The Naples City Council unanimously voted to appoint Deputy City Manager and CFO Gary L. Young as the new city manager.

Mayor Heitmann will finalize his contract for formal approval at the Feb. 5 city council meeting, when Young will also be sworn in.

Young, who joined the City of Naples in 2016, brings decades of financial and leadership expertise.

Originally from Canton, Ohio, he served in various roles in Canton’s local government before relocating to Naples.

His tenure with Naples includes serving as Deputy Finance Director, Finance Director and, most recently, Deputy City Manager/CFO.

He expressed gratitude for the council’s trust, saying, “It is an honor to serve the City of Naples in this new capacity. I look forward to continuing our work to enhance services and support the community’s vision for the future.”
