The 911 call of a man who called to report he had shot and killed his wife while his two children were inside the home has been released.

“I did it with a gun. I have two minors here. A family member is going to come and be with them because I know I’m going to jail,” said 46-year-old Rogelio Prestol.

Charlotte County deputies said shots rang out around 7 p.m. Sunday along Holtville Avenue in Port Charlotte.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, Prestol was suspicious that his wife had been cheating on him.

When his wife refused to unlock her phone, Prestol got his gun and demanded she unlock her phone at gunpoint.

Authorities said she tried to escape through a window, and that’s when Prestol opened fire.

Prestol followed her outside and shot her to death.

Prestol is now charged with second-degree murder. He remains in the Charlotte County Jail.
