The Cape Coral Police and Fire departments responded to a massive fire at the Palmetto-Pine County Club.

Fire crews arrived early Monday at the country club on Southwest Ninth Court near Skyline and Chiquita boulevards to extinguish the flames.

No injuries were reported.

After the fire was extinguished, Cape Coral Fire Prevention and the State Fire Marshal investigated the cause of the blaze.

Yellow caution tape was placed around the scene’s perimeter.

A review of the property found extensive fire damage on the roof of one of the buildings.

WINK News reporter Camila Pereira was deployed to the scene to gather information regarding the early morning fire.

She spoke to the club’s owner, Gerry Karlen, who said the fire started in his personal storage, which contained several golf carts.

The Cape Coral Fire Department released a statement saying investigators “determined [the fire] to be accidental, caused by an electrical malfunction in one of the golf carts parked in the building.”

First responders extinguished the fire within 30 minutes of arrival before further damage was done to the property.
