Estero Boulevard from Crescent Street to Matanzas Pass has officially been reopened for motorists in Fort Myers Beach.
The reopening marks significant progress in the final configuration of the intersection.
The previous detour allowed for the completion of critical work, including widening the roadway for a new exit lane, constructing new traffic islands and separators, and completing drainage improvements, concrete work, and a new northbound bus bay.
Motorists should still expect intermittent nighttime lane closures between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m. for the rest of the project.
Pedestrians are reminded that the northbound sidewalk near Margaritaville will remain closed until the crosswalks are completed. To access the beach, they need to use the posted detour crossing at Crescent Street.
The sidewalk is expected to open in summer 2025.
