SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) – Sarasota County authorities have confiscated and plan to destroy a dog that attacked a 10-month-old boy.

Officials say the mixed-breed dog named Fudge was impounded after the attack Friday. The boy was airlifted to All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg due to facial and head injuries from the dog’s bite.

Officials say the boy is expected to recover from the injuries.

Because of the dog’s history of biting three other children and the severity of the child’s injuries in the most recent case, humane euthanasia has been ordered.

The Herald-Tribune (http://bit.ly/1srt1WJ) reports that the dog’s owner has two options: sign the dog over to Animal Services or contest the decision that her dog must be put down.
