Miami police looking for daredevil

MIAMI, Fla. (CBSMiami) – A local daredevil isn’t taking any more risks now that the police are on his tail.

The City of Miami Police Department released a memo about his “dangerous antics,” after the man climbed the construction crane at Brickell City Center earlier this week.

DDMagic tells CBS4 that he gets his rush by climbing up to high places and posting the adventure online.

“The goal is to share my experience with the world. I want them to feel the vertigo and that heat racing feel,” he said.

His high climbing antics are against the law. A memo from police stated in part:

The problems with this are many. First, to trespass on to a construction site is a third degree felony in the state of Florida, punishable by up to five year imprisonment and/or fines of up to $10,000 for each violation. Another more important problem is, this behavior may very well lead an impressionable youngster to mimic the climb and risk serious injury or even death.

“They are kind of wasting their time on something that small. He is not hurting nobody. He is doing his own thing he is not risking nobody else’s life,”said Nick Ryland, who told CBS4’s Travell Eiland that he also has taken part in the so called urban exploring adventures.

Attorney David Weinstein says police going after urban explorers could save a life.

“It sends a deterrent message out to people who may think about doing this themselves. If they are thinking about it and they now know that the police are going to find them and they are going to have to pay a price for it they are not going to go up there and do it,” he said.

Police will have to do good detective work to find the thrill seeker DDMagic. His social media accounts have been deleted. But Weinstein says DDMagic’s digital footprint hasn’t been deleted and that the daredevil’s recordings could give investigators all the need to find him.
