LEE COUNTY, Fla.- A State Attorney’s Office (SAO) investigator was arrested for a crash that left another driver seriously hurt over the weekend.
The officer who arrested Mark Moore says he was so drunk, he could not stand.
The crash happened late Saturday night at the intersection of Skyline Boulevard and Cape Coral Parkway.
Cape Coral Police say Moore refused every sobriety test they offered, was slurring his speech and smelled of alcohol.
Moore has worked for the SAO for more than a decade, and according to his file, he hasn’t been in trouble once.
Lee County Memorial Hospital says the man who was injured, 33-year-old Ryan Knaby, is in surgery Monday. He had serious injuries from the crash, including broken ribs, a displaced hip, and a broken leg.
Knaby was arrested in January for a DUI himself. Because the SAO was prosecuting that case, they’ve asked to be removed from the investigation. The office has requested that a different branch of the agency take over the case.
Moore has been placed on paid administrative leave for now.
