BONITA SPRINGS, Fla.- Two men are injured after lightning struck a construction site Wednesday afternoon.

Officials tell WINK News two construction workers were on a roof when all of a sudden, they were hit.

“They asked me to put on a rain coat and run over here which I did, but there was nothing anyone could do. They were already doing CPR on him and mouth to mouth but he was completely unresponsive,” said Jeff Earle.

One man in serious condition was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital as a trauma alert. Fire department officials say the other man was standing nearby when the lightning hit. He had injured his foot but was alert and appeared okay.

“He was burnt, he had burn injuries,” said Earle. “His clothes were practically blown off.”

Deputies have not released the name of the man in serious condition at this time.
